Welcome to our 2nd Annual Dragonfly Golf Classic!
We are so glad you are here.
We are thrilled to announce that we are hosting our Second Annual Golf Classic on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield. It's time to mark your calendars for a fun and impactful event! Golfers will enjoy an inspiring day of golf filled with challenges as well as interactions with Dragonfly Champions as they try to win for one of our patients! Check out our 'Patient Champions' tab to learn more about these warriors and their journey. There will be plenty of food and drinks throughout the day, a post-golf reception with phenomenal raffle prizes, and much more - all in order to make an immediate impact on pediatric cancer patients and their families.
The Dragonfly Foundation Chicago is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting local pediatric cancer patients and their families by offering strength, courage, and joy during the most difficult of times. We do this by fulfilling day-to-day essential needs (brought to our attention through front-line staff at all eight of our area partner hospitals), such as gas cards, grocery cards, household essentials, toys, and more. We create community - by providing opportunities for our families to enjoy sports games, holiday outings, and fun experiences, which provide a distraction from their daily treatments. Our many hospital programs help our partner clinical teams to provide stellar, developmentally appropriate care, such as our hair loss kits and treatment-related stuffed animals.
While our chapter only started in March of 2020, we have already assisted over 300 families throughout the Chicagoland area and raised over $400,000 to support our families. The demand for our services is growing and we look forward to continuing to make an impact on those affected by pediatric cancer.
Our Golf Classic committee chair, Jacki Ruh, tragically lost her 2-year-old niece Penelope to Hepatoblastoma two years ago. We are proud to partner with Penny Possible and their team to honor Penny and the countless other children and families who battle this disease by donating a percentage of the proceeds from this golf outing to the Penny Possible Scholarship Fund. This will allow them to provide even more 'comfy cozy' blankets and pillowcases to kids undergoing treatment at hospitals around the country! Penny also loved rubber duckies - and so we are honored to award the First Place team with our Golden Duck award in her memory
Sunset Ridge Country Club is an award-winning, private course. With the purchase of a foursome, golfers will have the use of both a cart AND a caddy - quite a perk for a golf outing.
